About Me

I live in Bordentown with my wife, Brittany, and our two children, Owen and Emily. We love Bordentown and could not imagine living anywhere else in New Jersey. We decided to make Bordentown our home after visiting the local restaurants and shops numerous times. Later, when we decided to start looking for a house, we spoke with several residents while walking around and realized that the sense of pride and community of Bordentown is a perfect match for our family. We have truly enjoyed watching our kids explore the city and grow here. They have such excitement at the number of beautiful parks and playgrounds, and as parents, we love the walkability of Bordentown and how safe we feel.

When I’m not spending time with my family or walking our dog, Cooper, you can find me on the ice. I’ve played hockey most of my life and still play once or twice a week. I also play on a Police and Fire team that travels in the United States and abroad to play in first responder tournaments. I have participated in three World Police and Fire Games, with the highlight being my trip to the Netherlands in 2022.

I am also a history enthusiast and love learning about the amazing history that surrounds us. I look forward to continuing to learn from all of the great civic groups we have, and have enjoyed attending different meetings to see what everyone is doing to help make this such a great place to live.

Mission Statement

As your representative for Bordentown, I am committed to preserving the unique character and charm of our historic city while ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity for future generations.

My mission is to be a voice for every resident, promoting transparency in government, fiscal responsibility, and community-centered decision-making. Together, we will protect what makes Bordentown special while building a stronger, more resilient future.

I want to ensure Bordentown continues to thrive for the next generation. We must take care to balance the needs of our residents with those of our businesses and visitors. Working together with all parties will allow us to improve the quality of life for residents and allow the business district to continue to succeed.

I believe in listening first, acting with integrity, and always putting Bordentown's best interests at the forefront of every decision.

Goals

My goals for Bordentown may seem lofty; however, by working with my fellow Commissioners, our dedicated employees, residents, business owners, and other stakeholders, we can accomplish a great deal.

Improve Infrastructure: Maintain our roads and sidewalks everywhere in the City, not just the business district. I acknowledge there are challenges with utility work, and I appreciate the upgrades to our service equipment, but there are other areas that need addressing.
Support Local Businesses: Create an environment where local businesses can thrive and attract new opportunities in a way that also supports and respects the surrounding community.
Enhance Community Safety: Prioritize public safety initiatives to ensure a secure environment for all residents. Our Fire Department needs to always be fully funded so training and equipment are kept up to date and within mandated guidelines. Our Police Department needs to keep up with technological trends and have access to any tools it needs. Our safety depends on it.
Preserve Our History: Protect Bordentown's historical integrity while adapting to the needs of the future. I want to work with the Bordentown Historical Society and grant them access to any documents or artifacts related to our unique history.
Promote Transparency: Ensure open and honest communication between the local government and the community. Residents deserve to know what is happening and what changes may be coming, and given the opportunity to provide input on any issues that will affect them, or the City. Communication between the government and the public is key for our city to run like a well-oiled machine.
Grow Code Enforcement Efforts: Overgrown trees, bushes, and weeds, or damaged and/or uneven sidewalks should be identified by a representative of the City rather than waiting for a member of the public to report it. Proactive engagement of violators will bring issues to a resolution much faster. I do not envision Code Enforcement being a source of income for the City, but rather a means to bring property owners into compliance with applicable ordinances.
Make Interactions with City Hall Simple: Anyone who has had to fill out a form or report certain matters to the City knows that oftentimes, it’s not at all easy to do. Sending an email to get a form that you then have to print, fill out, scan, and then email back is one of the most inefficient ways to conduct business. I want forms to be fillable on the City’s website, or at the very least, updated to be fillable, so no one has to print and handwrite any forms again.
Financial Security and Stability: I want to make sure we operate as efficiently as possible, which will help ease reliance on bonds. I do not want to leave unnecessary debt to future generations, and will do everything possible to avoid raising taxes.
Reinstate the Parks and Recreation Commission and Historic Preservation Commission: There are so many groups made up of so many wonderful people who are donating their time, money, and resources to help beautify and improve our city. I think it is an absolute shame that people are forced to come out of their own pockets to do jobs that the City should be paying for. I want people to volunteer because they want to, not because they have to.

Experience and Qualifications

My professional background includes time in Law Enforcement as well as Risk Management, providing me with skills in leadership, problem-solving, and strategic planning. I am a team leader and am accustomed to making difficult decisions under pressure.

I currently work in Risk Management for a global automotive company. I am responsible for managing claims for a variety of business units, including retail automotive, fleet management, and vehicle up-fitting. Claims range in value from a few thousand dollars to several million dollars, and it’s my job to ensure they are resolved fairly for all parties involved while ensuring they are financially responsible.
In past Risk Management positions, it was my job to inspect facilities and properties to ensure they were safe for employees, visitors, and the general public. I recognize the potential liability for unsafe conditions and do what it takes to ensure items are addressed promptly and efficiently.
I have fifteen years in Law Enforcement, which included many years as a Detective as well as serving in a Community Relations Unit where I was assigned to two specific neighborhoods, and was ultimately promoted to Sergeant. My duties as a Neighborhood Resource Officer included spending my shifts working solely in my two assigned neighborhoods, meeting with residents and business owners, and addressing any needs or concerns they had. I attended monthly community meetings and any special events they had throughout the year. Part of what I loved most was getting on a first-name basis with the residents and business members and having them be comfortable enough to call me with even the smallest question or concern. It was my job to help improve their quality of life, and I took it very seriously.
I have a Bachelor’s degree from Marshall University, where I double majored in History and Criminal Justice. I also have a Master’s degree from Norwich University in International Relations.

I am prepared to leverage my experience and dedication to effectively serve the residents of Bordentown. I see this as my next calling and want to improve this great city for residents, business owners, and visitors alike.
